Our Story
Being a health conscious person was instilled in me since childhood. I grew up in a “healthy diet” house. My grandfather ran a successful business that imported grains which he produced and sold to wholesale stores in the country. I was raised on eating those fresh grains in the form of quinoa and oatmeal with honey and apples, while my friends grew up eating things like pretzels. As a kid my friend’s lunchboxes were filled with candy bars while mine was filled with nuts, dried fruits and vegetables. I got teased for this, but my mother always said this to me: “your body is not a garbage can, you can’t throw anything you like in there.” This quote remained apart of how I thought about food and what I allowed into my body ever since.
The idea of Art O Fruit started about 10 years ago. My good friend was having a bat-mitzva (a birthday party for the Hebrew culture that welcomes a young woman into adulthood) for her daughter. She wanted to have some gummy bears as center pieces. She knew that I considered myself a creative individual and so she asked me to help, and so I decided to create one. The piece came out beautifully and her guests really liked it; however, I was not so happy with the fact that it was made with artificial sugar. This kind of sugar is not a normal part of my household diet and so the idea came: how do I make beautiful center pieces that are actually healthy and that have nutritional value?
Some time passed and I finally came up with something that I could relate my childhood to and the need to express my creativity. As such, I began creating sweet bouquets from dried fruit. It became a success and people fell in love with my product and the idea of it being a healthy concept (which has only in recent years has begun to conquer the world). And so I present to you Art O Fruit my contribution to society, a society that wants to live a healthier and nutritious life.
Amen!
